Considered very eccentric, Ordinaire rode through the Val de Travers on a puny Corsican horse known in the region as Rocket. His unusual appearance did not fail to surprise the villagers, giving rise to jokes and stories about him. Being a doctor not without talents for his time, he introduced absinthe in his prescriptions. The villagers saw improvement in their health, and the doctor could not pretend other than pleased to prescribe its use.
